MITCHAM ORCHESTRA
History
The Mitcham Orchestra is a community orchestra based in the City of Mitcham.
It has had two previous names:-
-
The Bicentenary Seniors Symphony Orchestra
Conducted by Graham Abbott (1988)
-
The Adelaide Metropolitan Orchestra
Conducted by Mike Kenny (1990-2016)
The orchestra took a 1 year hiatus in 1989 while negotiations with the ABC ensued regarding continuing the Bicentennial Orchestra.
In 2002 the orchestra became known as the Mitcham Orchestra when support was offered by the Mitcham Council.
